Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 September 2026

The short version

HushCall records and transcribes meetings on your Mac. By default, nothing leaves the device. The app contains no analytics and no telemetry. If you create an account, the only data we hold on a server is your email address and whether your Cloud Pro subscription is active.

Who we are

HushCall is made by CoolSolve LLP. You can reach us at support@hushcall.app. Our site is hushcall.app.

What stays on your Mac

Recording and transcription run on-device by default. The local engines are Apple Speech and WhisperKit, and local AI features run through Apple Foundation Models or MLX on your own hardware.

The following is written to HushCall's local database and never uploaded on its own:

  • Meeting audio, and video if you used the optional screen recording
  • Transcripts, speaker labels, summaries, and chat history
  • The search index used for retrieval over your own recordings

We have no access to any of it. It leaves your Mac only if you turn on one of the optional cloud features below.

No analytics, no telemetry

HushCall ships with no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, and no usage tracker. There is no PostHog, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Firebase, or IDFA anywhere in the app. We do not know how many recordings you have made, which features you use, or when you open the app.

Optional cloud features

None of this runs unless you switch it on.

HushCall Cloud

If you enable cloud transcription or cloud AI, the audio or transcript text needed for that request is sent to api.hushcall.app, processed, and returned to the app. We use it to answer the request you made and for nothing else. We do not sell it and we do not use it to train models.

Bring your own key

You can instead configure your own API keys for third-party providers. When you do, the request goes from your Mac to the provider you chose, and that provider's own privacy policy and terms apply to it:

  • Google Gemini — generativelanguage.googleapis.com
  • OpenAI — api.openai.com
  • Deepgram — api.deepgram.com

Those keys are yours. They are stored locally on your Mac and are not sent to us.

Account and subscription data

Signing in is passwordless. You enter your email address and we send a one-time code. If you create an account, we store two things in a Cloudflare D1 database:

  • Your email address
  • Your subscription entitlement, meaning whether HushCall Cloud Pro is currently active for you

There are no passwords to store, because there are none. Your recordings and transcripts are not part of your account and are not stored with it.

Payments

HushCall Pro and HushCall Cloud Pro are auto-renewing subscriptions, and HushCall Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase. All three are sold through Apple. Apple takes the payment and holds your billing details. We never see your card or payment information. For Cloud Pro, we receive only the entitlement status that tells the app whether your cloud subscription is active. See the Terms of Service for the subscription and cancellation details.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Microphone — to record your own side of a meeting.
  • Screen Recording — macOS puts system audio behind this permission, so HushCall needs it to capture the other participants from conferencing apps. It also covers the optional screen recording of a meeting. Whatever is captured is written to your Mac like any other recording.
  • Accessibility — to read the title of the active meeting window so a recording can be detected and named automatically.

You can revoke any of these in System Settings → Privacy & Security at any time. HushCall will lose the matching capability and keep working otherwise.

Your choices

  • Leave the cloud features off and everything stays on your Mac.
  • Delete a recording in the app and its audio, transcript, and derived data are removed from your Mac.
  • To delete your account and the email and entitlement record we hold, email support@hushcall.app from that address.

Children

HushCall is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be called out in the app's release notes.
