Help with HushCall for Mac.
Contact us
Email support@hushcall.app. If something isn't working, include your Mac model, your macOS version and your HushCall version. The HushCall version is in Settings → About.
Where to find HushCall
HushCall lives in the menu bar at the top right of your screen. Its icon is a waveform in a circle. It has no Dock icon and opens no window when it starts. Click the icon to start or stop a recording, or to open the Library, AI Chat, Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0) or Settings.
If you can't see the icon, your menu bar may be full. macOS hides menu bar icons that don't fit, for example next to the camera notch. Quit a few other menu bar apps and look again.
Permissions
The first time you open HushCall, Set Up HushCall asks for these. You can also open Settings → Permissions at any time. HushCall needs Microphone and Screen Recording. Calendar access is optional:
- Microphone, to record your voice.
- Screen Recording, because macOS puts the sound from other apps behind this permission. HushCall needs it to record the other people in a call. It records your screen only if you turn on Record screen video in Settings → General.
- Calendars (optional), to remind you before Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet meetings, open their links and name recordings after the meeting. HushCall asks only when you click Allow Calendar Access or Grant Access. Allowing it in Set Up HushCall or in Settings → Permissions also turns reminders on. You can change the times, or turn reminders off, in Settings → General → Calendar Reminders. The Privacy Policy says what is read and what can leave your Mac.
After you grant access in System Settings, click Refresh on the Permissions tab or restart HushCall.
Recording
Click the menu bar icon, then Start Recording. HushCall records your microphone and your Mac's audio on separate tracks. Click Stop Recording when you're done. Your recordings are in the Library.
Auto-record is off until you turn it on. You can switch it on during setup, or later in Settings → General → Auto-record Meetings. HushCall then starts recording when a meeting app or a browser call starts using your microphone, and shows a notification when it does. Choose which apps count under Meeting Apps on the same tab.
Recording laws differ by place, and some require everyone on the call to agree. Tell people when you record them.
Plans
- Free: recording and playback, with no time limit and no account.
- HushCall Pro: transcripts, speaker labels, summaries, action items, chat and video search. $9.99 a year after a 7-day free trial.
- HushCall Pro Lifetime: everything in Pro for $19.99, paid once.
- HushCall Cloud Pro: everything in Pro, plus hosted transcription and hosted AI. $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
To see the plans, open Settings → Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0) and click See Plans. The free trial is for new subscribers, once per Apple Account. It becomes the paid yearly plan unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your country.
Restore purchases
Open Settings → Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0) and click Restore Purchases. The HushCall Pro window has the same button at the bottom. Make sure the App Store is signed in to the Apple Account you bought HushCall with.
Manage or cancel a subscription
Apple handles every subscription, so you change or cancel it in your Apple Account:
- In HushCall, open Settings → Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0) and click Manage Subscription.
- Or open the App Store app, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, and go to Subscriptions.
Apple's steps are in Cancel a subscription from Apple. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends, or the next payment is charged. Deleting HushCall does not cancel a subscription. If you buy Pro Lifetime while a yearly plan is active, cancel the yearly plan yourself; Apple doesn't cancel it for you.
Billing questions about a Mac App Store purchase go to Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. For anything else, write to support@hushcall.app.
Cloud Pro sign-in
Cloud Pro is sold in the Mac App Store version of HushCall, and you can buy it before you have an account. Its hosted transcription and hosted AI need a HushCall Cloud sign-in, which has no password:
- Open Settings → Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0).
- Under Sign In to HushCall Cloud, enter your email address and click Send Code.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the email and click Verify & Sign In. The code works for 10 minutes.
- To use Cloud Pro for transcription, choose HushCall in Settings → Transcription and click Apply Changes. For AI, choose HushCall Cloud in Settings → AI and click Apply Changes.
No code? Check your spam folder, then go back and send a new one. The email comes from login@hushcall.app.
Delete your account
In HushCall, open Settings → Plans (Cloud Pro in version 1.0) and click Delete Account. This deletes your email address, account ID, sessions, sign-in codes and purchase records from our servers. It doesn't cancel a subscription, so cancel that separately. You can also email support@hushcall.app from the address on your account.
Your recordings are never stored on our servers. They stay on your Mac until you delete them in the Library.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon, running macOS 15 or later.
- Apple Speech transcription needs macOS 26. On macOS 15, on-device transcription uses WhisperKit, and HushCall asks before downloading its speech model, about 490 MB, at your first transcription.
- Apple's on-device AI needs macOS 26, a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence, and Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. Without it, HushCall can use a local model of about 659 MB instead, and asks before downloading it. Cloud Pro and your own API keys work too.
- On-device speaker labels use small models, about 23 MB in all. HushCall asks before downloading them the first time you transcribe.
- Free disk space for your recordings. Screen video takes much more space than audio.
